Google is undoubtedly ahead of all other competitors in the search engine landscape when it comes to user engagement. This is one of the reasons why Google has been crowned as the "most used search engine". 

The defining factor behind Google's success is the algorithm that provides users with the most relevant results and, above all, an unparalleled personalized user experience. 

Disadvantages Of Google Search 

When I think back to Google's pristine days, it was more focused on keeping users happy. 

Fast forward to 2022, and their priorities have changed significantly. 

They are now more focused on keeping search for their own benefit.  

The pure organic Google SERP page is a thing of the past. Google SERP features such as ads, knowledge graph, snippets, map pack, etc. have taken prime positions in the SERP, leaving no chance for websites to get the same visibility as before.  

The monetization of user data on a massive scale caused a change in Google's personality as an advertising platform. 

The more personalization you prefer, the more user data Google collects from you. 

So, if you care about privacy, Google is not the search engine for you, at least in 2022. 

If Google continues to run the show without giving credit to websites and without asking for user consent before sharing their data, Google's omnipotence as the most used search engine may be short-lived.
